CHINESE FIND A NEW USE FOR THEIR HOME COMPUTERS

A new survey released today shows that more and more Chinese people are using their PCs as the center of entertainment at home or on-the-go. And the trend will increase as a new breed of PCs, known as entertainment PCs, become more widely available.

Entertainment PCs can function as your CD/DVD player and recorder, FM stereo, digital recorder and gaming console, creating a photo gallery, digital film vault, juke box, and game room all in one box.

And given a choice of presents from Santa this year, 37 percent of women and 35 percent of men in their 20s polled said they wanted an entertainment PC rather than any other electronic entertainment device such as a DVD player.

TCL and other leading computer manufacturers are preparing now to meet the boom in demand for digital homes with new models which will meet consumers’ growing needs.

The increased capabilities of this new generation of computers are made possible by advances in computer chips manufactured by Intel. PCs equipped with the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology coupled with Intel® 915 Express Chipset, notebooks with Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology designed for entertainment on-the-go, and handheld devices such as the latest smaller, sleeker portable media players based on Intel® Mobile Media Technology, deliver the digital home experience consumers are looking for, where they are now able to play, work, enjoy, learn, communicate and play games anywhere in the home and on-the-go. With an entertainment PC, people will now be able learn, play, work, enjoy, communicate and play games anywhere in the home.

As a complement the survey’s findings, Intel is embarking on a series of initiatives to show consumers exactly what is available. In China Intel has a Digital Home Experience Center in Nova PC Mall and Hilton PC Mall to name a few xxx where visitors can gain first-hand experience on the full range of entertainment possibilities available on desktop and laptop PCs.

APV Media has a free Betacam SP tape which illustrates the story. If you would like a copy or further information, please contact XXX on XXX or e-mail XXX
